"I know of many artists who are discouraged because their church doesn't utilize their talent, and i deeply empathize with them. On one occasion i met a songwriter who was angry at her church for not using her songs. I encouraged her and asked, 'Do you ever use your songs for private worship?'
Her answer was no, which saddened me because that's one of the greatest privileges of being an artist -- to do your art for the Audience of One. Sometimes during private worship, i have sensed the Lord saying to me, 'Sing me one of your songs.' The idea that our great and awesome God would accept my humble songs as a worship offering never fails to move me to tears."
